Who: Anyone
Where: Hammond's Office
When: Current

Sitting in his office George wasn't really up to much. He wanted to keep to himself at the moment. Daniel's reappearance was amazing beyond belief, but he was relieved to have one of the top archeologists back on the team - George hated to lose one of his own. And it hurt moreso to see Jonas Quinn leave, he had proved himself a real SGC member.

But work was work and he knew what he had to do. There were applicants sent to him to join the SGC and everyone had a good reason to be there, but by orders from the president himself George was granted to hire whoever he saw fit and worthy to join the Stargate program.

Come into George's office if you need to discuss anything with him. He'll listen

Evelyn smiled at the people passing by as she attempted to find general Hammond's office. Her escort stopped abruptly in the middle of a corridor and Eve almost walked past him. Eve smiled sheepishly and muttered a thank you, watching as he went in a different direction to the one they had just come from.
Evelyn paused and then knocked on General Hammond's door. While she waited for a response she glanced around the corridor, it looked the same as every other corridor. She knew she was going to get lost on her way back to the elevator/surface.

It was all George said as he was making notes on an applicant's form. He could use a break right about now.

Sitting there for almos two hours began to bore him. He rubbedhis eyes, and got up. Looking at the entrance to his office to see a beautiful woman standing before him.

She must've been one of the new personnel for he had yet to fix her face and name into his mind.

"I'm sorry ma'am, and forgive me for coming across bluntly. Who are you?"

Evelyn opened the door and walked in stopping just in front of the seats. She didn't want to sit down until she was invited to, she wasn't very savvy with all of this military stuff and she didn't want to do something wrong.

She smiled General Hammond, she knew he had a lot of personnel to oversee and she was sure it was a considerable task remembering all of the names of the people already under his command let alone the new people.
"Dr. Evelyn Kavanagh...sir." She held out her hand to him.

He nodded and offered her a smile.

"Please, have a seat Doctor, again, forgive me. As you can see," he started as he showed her all his paper work, "I've become quite busy in hiring new personnel for the Stargate Program. Now what can I help you with?"

He took his own seat and awaited for Evelyn's answer.

Evelyn took a seat. She smiled at him again.
"I just had a few questions to ask." Eve said.
"I was wondering whether or not I get my own office. Also I understand smoking is only permitted on the surface, is that correct?" She didn't mind going outside for a cigarette, or sharing a office, she just wanted to get a few things cleared up. She didn’t want to do something she shouldn’t. Eve pushed some hair out of her eyes and looked up at the General.

George now remembered Doctor Kavanagh - the haemotologist expert that was requested for expertise to be on site. Janet was the chief doctor on base, however help was always required.

From what he read and had heard she was determined and a hard worker. This was the first time he had met her personally. Prior to her hiring he hadn't had full oversight into who was hired to come into the program. Now he was glad to have this time with her.

Continuing to smile, he nodded.

"You'd be correct doctor, smoking is strictly outdoors. And you will be given an office shortly. We hoped to have it by the time of your arrival, however you seem very determined to begin work, we haven't had the chance to clear out a couple of things. I'll be sure to give you what you need once it is ready."

"Now, may I ask, just so I get to know you a little bit better myself, what is your background before joining the Stargate Program?"

"There is no rush, I merely wondered." Eve said nothing to his determined comment she didn't like to be late, or to be perceived as not interested in her new job, she supposed that was the same as determined, in some respects.
The stargate programme was going to be entirely different from anything she had ever worked in before. She was quite nervous.

Eve paused, had he read her file? Of course he had read her file, maybe he wanted information that wasn't in the file.
"Did you want to know more about my working background or my personal background?" Eve shuffled in her seat slightly, she wasn't ashamed of where she came form or even who her parents were, it's just some people can be slightly put off by her background.

"Whatever you're comfortable with sharing. Maybe start ing with your professional career, and perhaps what lead you to want to become a haemotologist?"
e_kavanagh on February 6th, 2009 04:10 pm (UTC)
"Well I moved to the USA with my brother when I was 16. I did a programme called the ‘7 year programme’ linking a joint 3-year accelerated undergraduate degree and a standard 4-year medical degree. Then I joined the local hospital, training to be a haematologist. I became a Haematologist because I always wanted to help people, to save them. And diseases in the blood fascinate me more than...anything else really." She wondered if that was too geeky, or if he wanted more information on why she moved.

OOC: Sorry I've been away the weekend so I hope we can continue

George nodded. She was honest, and even if he didn't fully understand a doctor's perspective on things or get their jargon, he had full respect for all the doctors he knew.

He hoped that Evelyn would feel welcome on base and get the respect she would deserve.

"Sounds like you then made the right move by requesting to be here. Everything that comes through the Stargate will become more than you'll ever imagine, Doctor.
And trust me, you'll beome adjusted to everything here soon enough."

"You only have one brother? And he's a doctor too?"

Evelyn looked at his desk. It was pretty cool.
Evelyn gave a nervous smile as talked about adjusting. She usually liked change. This seemed like good change.

"Yeah, only one brother, He's not a doctor, he's a car Mechanic." She smirked a little at that. People always expected him to be something equally as ‘important’ as her, and he was a car mechanic. It was what he loved and Evelyn couldn’t Imagine him doing something different. To her it didn't matter that he wasn't a doctor or a lawyer, because he had looked after her, He'd been there for her when their parents wern't. She was proud of him.

George nodded.

"How long has he been a mechanic for?"
e_kavanagh on February 11th, 2009 12:57 pm (UTC)
"Since he was 18, so about 18 years." Evelyn nodded slightly. She'd never really thought about it before, but it was a hell of a long time he had been a mechanic. She tucked some hair out of her eyes. and glanced at his desk wondering why he had 2 phones. She looked back at the General and smiled.

George noticed her eyes look at his desk and smiled in return. He didn't push what she was thinking but over time she'd discover the significance of everything on his desk.

"Well, I won't waste anymore of your time Doctor Kavanagh with my questions. Anything else I can help you with?"
e_kavanagh on February 22nd, 2009 07:01 pm (UTC)
"You're questions are welcomed sir. I've noticed almost everyone is wearing the same thing. Because I'm a civilian should I just wear clothes I would usually wear to work?"
